Nichole Emerson Completes Pre-Health Professions Internship with Asheville Anesthesia Associates
Nichole Emerson recently completed a Pre-Health Professions Internship with Asheville Anesthesia Associates, P.A. at Mission Hospital. The Pre-Health Professions program, sponsored by UNCA, exposes the student to specific aspects of direct health care in a variety of clinical settings and through association with an array of health care professionals.
Emerson, a rising senior at UNCA, plans to pursue a career as an anesthesiologist. Anesthesiologists are Medical Doctors or Doctors of Osteopathy (MDs or DOs) that specialize in providing anesthesia to patients during surgery. To become an anesthesiologist, students must complete undergraduate college and four years of medical school, before completing the additional four years of training in the specialty of anesthesia.
Asheville Anesthesia Associates provides anesthesia services to Mission Hospital and other area hospitals and surgery centers throughout Western North Carolina.
